The Problem

Relying on dated spreadsheets and group chats to track merchandise quantity and location can be less than ideal. In order to be fully prepared and restocked for a hectic festival season, businesses need to know where things are and how much they have on hand.

A little bit of organization can go a long way.

Solution

An inventory management system that could track merchandise quantity across multiple locations, including delivery vans. This system helps the Chicago Puppet Theater Festival know where everything is, how much they have, and what needs to be refilled.

In addition, Backstage can record sales, bulk adjust inventory, track sales, and create low stock alerts.

The Process

In order to make informed design solutions, I conducted several interviews and user tests with individuals from the Chicago Puppet Festival Theater.

I decided to interview a variety of roles, such as drivers, FoH staff, and administrators, so that I can gain a deeper understanding of their pain points.

In order to address the Puppet Fest's needs, crazy 8's and rapid paper prototyping were used to ideate a variety of features and interactions that could prove useful to them.

All of these would then be translated into Figma prototype that would be continuously iterated upon. Each iteration would address issues and discoveries found in user testing.
